Is this You?

  • "I am not sure where to find hope anymore."
  • "I got into this line of work because it seemed so clear to me that it was right. I knew this was what I was supposed to be doing. Now, I'm not so sure, and I have no idea of what is next."
  • "I'm at a point in my life that I know what used to work doesn't any more. I know there need to be some changes, but I just don't see the way forward."
  • "I used to be able to really feel God in my life. There was such a strong connection. Now I'm not sure God is there at all."

What is described above are all situations that have been voiced to me during spiritual direction.

There is something essential about being able to sit with someone and talk about the experience of something bigger than the self, no matter what one decides to call this 'something'. Theresa of Avila walked with St. John of the Cross in this way. St. Clare of Assisi served St. Francis, supporting him, and strengthening him in times of doubt as he served the people of Assisi.

I believe each of our lives is like a "braided cord": one strand is us, seeking our connection to all that is; one is a 'Higher Power' (called by many names) seeking us; and the third strand is the companions who walk along side us as we search. In spiritual direction we seek to heighten our awareness of the presence of the sacred in whatever way is needing our attention and acknowledgement.

It is my privilege, and my pleasure to have served as a companion for those seeking to walk with more clarity of purpose, and increased awareness of the presence of the Sacred in life's journey since 2003.  It is what I love to do.
